The Washburn University Forensic Anthropology Recovery Unit (WU-FARU) was founded in 2017 by Dr. Alexandra R. Klales, D-ABFA (#123). The WU-FARU's mission is to 1) assist local, regional, and state agencies (e.g., law enforcement, coroner/medical examiners, arson investigators, etc.) with active forensic casework investigations, 2) provide continuing education training opportunities through accredited forensic anthropology short courses, and 3) provide hands-on training and real-world experience for the next generation of forensic anthropologists.
